Webinar: Applied and Participative Science for Local Water Governance
About the webinar
Let’s review the closing event of the project “SimRapel: Participatory modeling for water governance”, which seeks to promote and facilitate the governance of water resources in the Rapel River Basin through the use of an innovative tool to support decision-making.
The webinar began with the welcoming words of the Mayor of the O’Higgins Region, Rebeca Cofré and Dr. Orlando Jiménez, Executive Director of CSIRO Chile.
Then, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Antonio Walker, made a presentation about the current reality of agriculture with respect to water and the role of science in this matter, to advance towards a “smart” agriculture, with measurable results and facing the challenges in a better way. .
Later, the researcher Gabriella Bennison presented the results of the project and its scope.
In a round table with the protagonists of the basin, and moderated by Dr Edmundo Claro, Research Director on Land & Water at CSIRO Chile, they reflected on these issues. This webinar was a space to share ideas and experiences, and to begin to chart a more secure and resilient water future for the Rapel River Basin.
